My play KAIJU is having a reading this week with The Road Theatre as part of their 16th Annual Summer Playwrights Festival! It'll take place on Thursday, July 16th, at 8 p.m. at their theatre space in North Hollywood (10747 Magnolia Boulevard, North Hollywood, CA). Here's a brief synopsis:
Two 250-foot-tall monsters debate the morality of the destruction they just caused. A group of human theatergoers argues after the play they just watched. Destruction becomes conversation and conversation becomes destruction in this satire of monster movies, post-show talkbacks, and the self-cannibalization of live theatre. The reading is being directed by Ryan McRee and features an all-star cast of Road ensemble members, including Leandro Cano, Cherish Monique Duke, Clay Hollander, Jessica Jade Andres, Nicole Royster, Chase Cargrill, Krishna Smitha, Michelle Gillette, and Kate Huffman. Phew! Click here for tickets. I'm especially excited about this because KAIJU, despite being written five years ago, has never had an in-person public reading, and given the subject matter of the play, it's kind of crucial. It'll also be my first full-length being presented in Los Angeles (or anywhere in California for that matter). So if you're in the LA area, come on out and say hi and stay for the talkback afterward. It should be a ton of fun. Big thanks to Ryan and the team, and to The Road for supporting my work!
